Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
Fish, gators and other wildlife washed up during the storm surge. This 3 foot Snapper and thousands of others became stranded and died.

Typical view of dead fish piles near Adams Bayou about a mile from Mom's house. There's more shad, catfish and whatever else that you want to count.

And shrimp too. The area smelled like what you would expect.

Debated whether to photograph this... Flood water from the hurricane covered Navy Park cemetary several feet deep. Several caskets cracked open. A city official told me that corpses floated out clogging storm drains.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
My old church near 9th and Cypress in midtown Orange. About a half-foot of water flooded the church...nice reflection though.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
Before Ike this shrimp boat lived along a Neches River inlet near the Rainbow Bridge. Notice it's tangled in power lines.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
Every home in Sabine Pass was underwater and damaged/destroyed during the storm surge. The storm gauge measured a record 15 foot flood.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
I took this photo to show the displaced boat lodging in a former residence. Various vessels scattered the landscape.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
Not sure where this building came from. Note that Texas Highway 87 has partially eroded. This section of highway flooded nearly 10 feet deep.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
After the flooding waters retreated, many homes were left with a coat of mud on TVs, pool tables and furniture. The mud dries like concrete.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
The water flooded 8 feet deep in this house which is located between Bridge City and Port Arthur.
Storm Chases/ Events: 2006
While the mainstream news focused on Galveston and larger cities, we were the only media present as US Secretary of State Michael Chertoff (blue shirt) toured Sabine Pass. The high school in the background was rebuilt after Hurricane Rita in 2005.
